Shirley, Did your Dr give you any idea of how long before your dry AMD will progress to affect your vision ? It sounds like you will not need to worry unless it changes to wet AMD. My uncles Dr told him to take Perservision to slow any AMD progression. He did for years and did not seem to be bothered by his AMD. He died at 92 yo with his vision intact.

Wow, I'm not sure I have 10 years to wait at 85 years old now, but my aunt lived to be 106 and was walking on her own. So maybe there's hope for me. As long as my eyes don't get worse, I can handle that.

I had that conversation with my retinal specialist last week. I was told that stem cell therapy for this is a long way off. The current clinical studies are gene therapy. It involves one injection to place a gene in the right position and that’s it. No more injections. Just wait for it to work. He says they are having success with it in the new limited clinical studies but he imagines it will be 10years till this is a common treatment.

I am feeling you on that one. I have Severe GA in my left eye and just hoping my right eye does not get any worse.
