Intermediate AMD with increased blurriness
I also first went to eye doc because I was seeing what looked like heat waves coming from the ground but the sun was not out. I was told I had Drusen and saw optometrist twice a year for about six years. My vision seemed to get worse so saw opthomologist who told me I had AMD. I have a standing annual appointment with him but wonder if I need to see a retina doctor. Only treatment I have or do is ARED's 2.
so far I’m just seeing line wiggly about five years ago, my regular eye doctor said I had cholesterol deposits in the back of my eye and he was gonna keep a watch on it, six months ago I started noticing when I was riding in the car looking at the siding on all the houses, it looked wiggly like the sun had melted it. I didn’t think much of it at the time few months later I had my regular eye appointment. My doctor said I had a spot on the back of my eye that’s when he sent me to the retina center. I was diagnosed with AMD. The doctor doesn’t know how long it will take for me to lose my site. There’s no way in knowing I’ve already already had three injections that did absolutely nothing for me on the 26th. I’m supposed to start three more injections with a different medication it scares me. Do you want anything? My doctor can really tell me for sure when he takes a needle in your eye a chances of going blind from the needle is one in 500 that’s not very good odds
I’m fighting back-and-forth with myself thinking do I want to take that one at 500 chance? Or do I just wanna go partially blind slowly? There’s no guarantee the medication will work. There’s no guarantee how long it will be before I go blind chatting with people on this site. It looks like I got six maybe seven years to go blind. I’m only 71 and I’m in the early stages.
Having the needle put in my eye, is not a big deal. I don’t really feel thing the first time our little pressure the second time I didn’t even know he did it. I could see the medication flowing into my eye, but on all three times when I get home and the anesthesia wears off it hurts like hell for hours. That’s where my problems lying. I know I’m ramping and Raven sorry about that.
But thanks lots of luck
Two years ago, my regular eye doctor told me to take ARED2 unfortunately I didn’t do it, now that I’m diagnosed 4mo ago with AMD in my left eye I’ve been taking the ARED2 the specialist at the retina center told me these vitamins aren’t going to do my left eye. Any good it’s only gonna help my right eye without the AMD.
As I said, in my last note, I’ve had three injections on the 29th. I start another set of three. I’ll keep you posted and let you know how it works.
There’s absolutely no cure for These injections should only slow the process
I wish you all the luck in the world you have any questions or wanna chat I’m here Jackie
Thanks Mary. I feel like I’m not getting much information from my Dr. It seems the VA (I’m a Veteran) wait until you get or have signs of wet AMD to send you to a retinal specialist. I feel very fortunate to have my VA Dr, though.
