I’ve had a floater in my eye for over a year. It’s never disappeared and I have wet MAG.

My eyes adjusted to them. The only time floaters becomes noticeable are when I look up at the sky on a clear day. It looks like hundreds of birds on the sky.

Does dry AMD cause or increase eye floaters?

Dry AMD is not typically known as a direct cause of floaters. Dry AMD primarily affects the macula, leading to gradual central vision loss, blurry spots, or wavy lines — rather than floaters.

Floaters are more commonly associated with wet AMD, particularly when abnormal blood vessels beneath the retina leak fluid or blood. This can sometimes be perceived as spots or floaters in vision. That said, it's really important to pay attention to any new or sudden floaters, especially if accompanied by:

- Flashing lights in side vision
- A dark shadow or curtain blocking part of vision
- Sudden increase in spots in your visual field

These could be signs of a more serious issue like retinal detachment, which needs immediate attention from an eye doctor.

When in doubt, always check in with your ophthalmologist about any new vision changes — better safe than sorry!
