Should yellow lens glasses be worn when using a computer or watching TV with AMD? It's a great question, and the answer depends on your specific symptoms and needs.

Yellow or amber lenses are often recommended for people who struggle with contrast sensitivity β€” like noticing edges, steps, or subtle color differences. AMD can make these things harder to detect, and some research suggests yellow lenses may help improve contrast perception for some people.

However, there are a few things worth keeping in mind:

- Yellow lenses reduce the amount of light entering the eye, so they're generally not recommended in low-light settings or at night
- They may also block some blue light from screens
- Visual needs vary from person to person, so what works well for one person may not work as well for another Many myAMDteam members have found that blue-light-blocking glasses (which can include some yellow-tinted lenses) help reduce blurriness when reading or using screens. That said, most experts note that the evidence for blue-light-blocking lenses preventing retinal damage is limited.

The best step is to talk with your eye doctor or a low-vision specialist. They can recommend the right lens tint based on your specific stage of AMD, symptoms, and daily activities.

I wear sunglasses even in restaurants depending on whether I'm facing windows, etc. I always ask my people that I'm with if they wouldn't mind if I sat on certain side of the table so I'm not facing outdoor windows, etc. that works for me as I am sensitive to light.

thanks for your reply. Interesting. Maybe I'll try one and see if it helps. I wear sunglasses alllllll the time that I'm outdoors, as its too bright and straining for me otherwise. My doctor recommends it.
