Hello.. I’m so new to navigating this bizarre world.. I have a second opinion appointment coming up to hopefully get some direction… I was told I had early age related MD…,vision deteriorating slowly from year to year…but still 100% functioning… no glasses all the time just for specific s… it’s frustrating as hell but I’m determined to do what ever is necessary…except give up

Hi Cathy, unfortunately it sounds like your doc is not very specific. Do you have an Opthamologist or retinologist? Retinologist is best as they specialize in all eye diseases and typically have better equipment to diagnose. My understanding is there are three stages of both mild and wet AMD. GA is when it is dry. Dry comes before wet. I have advanced wet AMD. I advise you to get more clarity in exactly what is going on and treatments andsupplements. I found out this past October and started Avastin injections in both eyes. This helps to slow the progress. Without tx you will eventually lose your central vision so if you can get started with tx hopefully you can prevent from going into wet. I’m now getting those injections every 6-8 weeks. You’re welcome. I misspoke when I said you will lose your central vision. I should have said if it progresses to wet, w/o tx, you will likely lose central vision. Doesn’t happen to everyone, but w/o tx, it could happen. I was told I would since I was in late stage wet AMD. Be good to your eyes! 😊
