I was diagnosed the other day with early dry AMD. My optometrist told me to take the AREDS2 formula. I have taken it for just 2 days now (I am taking it with meals) and ever since taking it I have had a headache and I feel pressure in my eyes. Members shared their experiences with AREDS2 supplement side effects after someone newly diagnosed with early dry AMD reported headaches and eye pressure, with one member confirming through research that headaches, nausea, and gastrointestinal issues are common reactions to the high vitamin and mineral levels. Several members offered practical advice, including taking the supplements at night with food to reduce nausea, questioning the doctor about using AREDS2 for early-stage AMD since studies show it's most effective for intermediate to late stages, and recognizing that while the evidence for early-stage benefit is limited, some doctors recommend it as a precautionary measure. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body, communicating openly with your medical team about side effects, and finding support from others navigating the challenges of AMD.

Jill-It certainly won't hurt you to take the Areds-They are a good source of antioxidants and I think your doctor gave you very sound reason to take them-Its ultimately up to you and celery patient is different

When I started taking areds 2 I would get nauseous. The retina specialist I go to said take it at night with food. That has helped but I’m not sure if the areds 2 is helping

AREDS clinical studies show they may reduce progression from intermediate to late stages AMD-You should question your doctor as to why you are to take them for early stage
