I have been diagnosed with dry AMD in 2018 and so far I have NOT had any problems with losing ANY eyesight. Mine was caught before it got too bad and I am hoping that it will stay this way for a long time. It just depends on the invididual I believe. Hang in there.

How long does it take to lose vision with geographic atrophy and AMD in both eyes?
The timeline for vision loss varies significantly depending on which type of AMD you have and how it progresses. Here's what to expect:
Dry AMD and Geographic Atrophy (GA):
Dry AMD progresses very slowly over multiple years. If it only affects one eye initially, you may not notice vision loss in the early stages.
For geographic atrophy specifically, one study found that about 26 percent of people ages 75 to 80 with severe AMD developed central geographic atrophy within 10 years.
Wet AMD:
Wet AMD progresses much more quickly than dry AMD. You may notice central vision loss rapidly, sometimes in just days or weeks.
Important to know:
Even with wet AMD, treatment can help stabilize or even reverse some vision losses. The good news is that most people with AMD don't go completely blind. You're likely to retain your peripheral vision, though central vision (used for reading and recognizing faces) may be affected.
Since you have both GA and wet AMD, staying on top of your treatment schedule and working closely with your eye doctor is crucial for slowing progression and preserving as much vision as possible.
