Intermediate AMD
I have the progressive lenses and a little deeper, but it's not only the sun that affect your eyes.....the computer doesn't help mine, so I had a pair specially made with a tint for my computer work and I think that helps too. Cold packs and eye drops help, but my eyes are so sensitive that the only drops that don't burn my eyes are Refresh. We just have to do what's good for us...we're worth it!!!
Hi Cathy, It's hard to answer your question since I'm not sure if you're talking about after an exam where your eyes were dilated or just a normal day. Most people with AMD have trouble adjusting to changes in dark to light environments such as going from a dark garage and car to the bright sun or vice versa. When driving, I always have the sun visor down even if the sun isn't out and especially if it has snowed. It's just too bright. I always wear sunglasses. Check with your doctor and perhaps you could wear even darker glasses. If this was a problem after having your eyes dilated, you shouldn't be driving. When I first started my injections, the doctors wouldn't release you unless you had a driver, but lately they've been a little lax. I hope this heps you.
I have the same issue
Thanks Phyllis for the tip. I’ve tried the cocoon glasses with the yellow tint. They seemed to work but I’ve since had trouble with depth perception so I’ve given up driving. 😕
I have a red light mask, I use it once a week. I asked my eye doctor if it was safe to use. He said it won’t hurt but he doesn’t know if it helps your AMD. I use it for 3 minutes once a week. I don’t notice any change.
