The treatment for dry AMD in early to intermediate stages involves 9 short exposures to the light over 4-5 wks; then up to 2 more treatment series over the year. Cost in Michigan is $2200-$3500 for the 9 treatments in one cycle, so this could get expensive since there is no insurance coverage available at this point.
Has anyone tried Valeda, and met with success???

It sounds like you are saying the improvement last only up to 24 months???What then? Repeat the light therapy?

A red light therapy belt is used for various health benefits, including:
Pain Relief: It can help alleviate pain in muscles and joints by promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation.
2
Skin Health: The red light penetrates the skin to stimulate collagen production, improving skin tone and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
2
Muscle Recovery: Near-infrared light aids in muscle recovery and joint healing, making it beneficial for athletes and those recovering from physical activity.
2
Body Contouring: It can assist in fat reduction and body sculpting by promoting circulation and enhancing skin elasticity.

These devices are versatile and can be used on various body parts, making them a convenient option for home therapy.

I bought a Red Light Belt about 6 weeks ago, been using it not regularly I can't be sure it worked as I hoped. Now I found out 9 short exposures over 4 - 5 weeks, then the same procedures 2 more times. Short exposure is 4- 5 min. But the strength of the Red Light has 4 levels of strength - try with level 2! Again- try again - I got this!! (Btw.: appr. $40at Amazon incl. shipping)!

The Valeda Light Delivery System shows promising results for treating dry AMD, particularly in early to intermediate stages. Clinical trials demonstrated significant vision improvement and preservation lasting up to 24 months. Importantly, researchers observed fewer cases progressing to severe geographic atrophy.

Each treatment session is brief, lasting about 4 minutes. The standard treatment course involves:
• 9 sessions total
• 3 sessions per week
• Completed over 3-4 weeks

No significant side effects were reported during clinical trials. This is the first FDA-authorized therapy that may actively improve visual acuity and address underlying retinal cell damage, rather than just slowing progression. However, it's important to note that patients with more advanced stages of AMD, such as central geographic atrophy, may not experience the same benefits as those with intermediate AMD.

While the cost without insurance coverage is significant, you may want to discuss this treatment option with your ophthalmologist to determine if it's appropriate for your specific situation and stage of AMD.
